Professor Jianguo Liu communicated with our Lab

In the afternoon of March 29, 2013, Professor Jianguo Liu, invited to visit our lab from Imperial College London, gave all members of our lab an academic report entitled "Phase Correlation Image Analysis System-Subpixel disparity estimation for high quality 3D data generation and precise image co-registration ", which was presided by Professor Lifu Zhang.

Professor Jianguo Liu introduced a sub-pixel feature matching technology which is based on the argument correlation after image Fourier Transform. The technology has been applied to precise point–point image registration, motion detection and regeneration of super-resolution image, with the accuracy of 1/50 pixel. Besides, high quality DEM can be generated from narrow baseline stereo images by this technology, which has broad prospects in the aspect of urban DEM and volume change of objects. Not only the report itself was excellent, but also Professor Liu’s attitude toward education attracted the listeners.

Professor Jianguo Liu received his Ph. D from the Centre for Remote Sensing, Imperial College London. Now, he is a professor in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering, who has worked in Imperial College London since 1991. His main research directions include remote sensing image processing and applications in geosciences; advanced digital image processing techniques, methods and related software development; INSAR and geographic information model of multiple data applied to geological hazard assessment and the Earth's tectonic activity research.
